Adams missed nearly the entire 2023-24 campaign, and a good chunk of the Spring season in 2022-23 as a result of a series of injuries. He underwent surgery last October, making his return in the Spring of 2024, only to last just one month before returning to the medical table with back spasms.
He played in Copa America 2024, but Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola said that Adams was in pain during the tournament, and as a result was under limitations.
Now, as a result of him playing in the continental event, he has worsened the injury and will be out for the foreseeable future.
WHAT ANDONI IRAOLA SAID
"He wanted to play Copa America because it was very important for him," Iraola said, "but he had restrictions and was still in pain. So two days after they were knocked out, he had surgery. He is out for some time. It is difficult to say how long but he won’t be fit for the start of the season. But September? October? I don’t know."

Iraola's comments indicate there is no fixed timetable for Adams' return. The midfielder will need to prioritize his health, and getting back to 100 percent before a return to the pitch.
The USMNT have two international friendlies in September against New Zealand and Canada. Adams' status is uncertain.
