da bet7k: According to Don Balon, Real Madrid are confident of beating Manchester City to the signature of Arsenal attacker Alexis Sanchez.
What’s the story?
da jogodeouro: Man City came close to signing Sanchez during the summer, but Arsenal pulled out of the deal in the latter stages of the transfer window after failing to secure Thomas Lemar from Monaco.
With Sanchez’s deal at Arsenal due to expire at the end of the season, it was thought that Man City would return with another bid next month.
However, according to Don Balon, Real Madrid are firmly in the race for the Chile international, and Los Blancos believe that they can convince Sanchez to return to Spain.
The report claims that the 29-year-old is still interested in a move to Man City, but is very much open to listing to Real Madrid despite previously representing Barcelona.
How has Sanchez performed this season?
It would be unfair to claim that Sanchez threw his toys out of his pram when the move to Man City broke down, but the attacker’s performances have been questionable at best.
The Arsenal fans have certainly noticed a change in Sanchez’s attitude this season, and it does appear only a matter of time before he leaves the Gunners.
He has managed seven Premier League goals in 17 appearances – two of which came against Crystal Palace on Thursday night as the Gunners recorded a 3-2 success.
It is understood that Sanchez’s Arsenal teammates are fed up of his conduct, however, and it would certainly suit Arsene Wenger’s side to sell to Real Madrid rather than a direct rival in the Premier League.
Sanchez, who is rated at £58.5m by transfermarkt.co.uk, is simply biding his time before he leaves Arsenal, and with a return to Spanish football seemingly a big pull, Man City could miss out on the attacker to Real Madrid.
