How good was Soares last season?
After failing to break into the first team at Porto, Soares was loaned out to Primeira Liga rivals Rio Ave for the 2016/17 season, and was an ever-present, playing 38 times in all competitions.
The youngster posed a constant threat on the left-flank and quickly gained a reputation for a fantastic passing range and crossing ability.
Soares ended the season with three goals and four assists to his name, helping Rio Ave finish in a very respectable 7th place in Portugal.
What happens next?
After such an impressive season in his homeland, Porto may want to bring Soares into the first team for next season. However, the club are in serious financial difficulty after breaking UEFA Financial Fair Play regulations.
